One of the major features introduced by Revit 2016 is the possibility to load the Autodesk Fabrication’s products (CADmep, ESTmep e CAMduct).These are parametric three-dimensional elements for the executive MEP design of the (LOD 400).With implementation of the “fabrication parts”, Autodesk has considerably improved, about quality and speed, the realization of MEP detailing models and related executive sheets. However the “fabrication parts” are in no way related with the traditional “MEP systems”. The idea is to use, in the early design stages, the traditional “systems” and at the end, during the executive design phases, the “fabrication parts”. We hope that in the next version of Revit , they will allow to pass automatically by “ systems” to “parts” without having to start all again with modeling.
In this short tutorial I'll show you how to make best use of the fabrication parts for the realization of a ductwork LOD 400.
To position the fabrication parts in a Revit model, we have to go on systems tabs > fabrication panel > fabrication parts. Now it will open a window with not editable fields, but if we go on settings we first specify a fabrication configuration (metric or imperial), and then you can load the desired services in the model. Later you can modify the services loaded back in the settings window manufacturing and click reload configuration.
Place fabrication parts
To place the fabrication parts in the model we have to select the desired element in the dialog box of fabrication parts. Modeling with fabrication parts is much more intuitive and faster than the traditional system families, and you can also model into the three-dimensional views.
To change settings of fabrication parts select the part that you want to customize and click editing part. In the dialog box that opens you can change the size and type of the connection part.
To place a hunger we have to select the type of the hunger from the dropdown menu groups in the dialog box of fabrication parts.
The hungers can be positioned only on straight horizontal fabrication segments and are automatically associated to the closest structural element. The structural categories includes structural floor, roof, structural framing, stairs and if there is no structure, it uses the default hunger length.
