BIM course University Sapienza

Riccardo Pagani

The Faculty of Architecture of Rome “Sapienza“, interested in promoting the use of Building Information Modeling in architectural design, enabled, from October 2010, the university BIM course “Information Technology and Automatic Design” in collaboration with Autodesk, Descor, EMEA and the architect Angelo Giuseppe Amodeo. We were instructed to teach the theory and techniques of BIM methodology to provide students with all the necessary tools to pass the final exam.

During the six-month university course we performed, every week, theoretical lectures on BIM and technical lectures on the Autodesk Revit software so as to provide students with all the necessary tools to create an architectural BIM model and pass the final exam. We have continuously supported the 120 students of the course, with a just-in-time training, for the realization of a BIM model of a contemporary architecture masterpiece. Working closely with the students have been detected, for each specific problem encountered, the best possible solution.

The Faculty of Architecture of Rome “Sapienza“, hosted in the main hall on May 25 of 2011, a conference about BIM organized by prof. arch. Angelo Giuseppe Amodeo. We were invited to take part in the conference as speakers, along with other distinguished national and international guests, to define a clear and comprehensive picture on the state of the art and future possibilities of Building Information Modeling. In our talk we paid particular attention to the topic of sustainability and how the new analysis and energy simulation tools can support the architectural design.
