# BIM Management

> We define and run the BIM information process of a project or an organization: requirements, roles, standards, workflows and checks. We also guide BIM implementation inside companies.

BIM Management is the direction of the information process. It sets who produces which information, at what level of detail, in which formats and by when. Without it, even well-built models stay hard to coordinate and use.

BIMON has provided BIM Management consulting since 2015. On the client side we help write the Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) and assess bidders' proposals. On the delivery side we draft the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), set naming, coding, LOD and LOIN, and check that models match what was agreed. The references are the ISO 19650 series and, in Italy, UNI 11337.

The other half of the service is implementation. We look at how the organization works today, define standards, templates and libraries, train teams and support the first pilot projects. With SEA at Malpensa, the relationship started from one project and grew into support for digital transformation and BIM implementation.

You need it when a public client has to require BIM in a tender, when a contractor or engineering firm has to meet those requirements, or when a company wants to move from CAD to BIM with a method rather than by trial and error.

## Deliverables

- BIM Management
- Implementation
- Exchange Information Requirements (EIR)
- BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
- Company standards, templates and libraries

## Process

1. **Assessment** — We review project requirements, contracts and how the team works today.
2. **Rules** — We write the EIR or BEP, with roles, LOD/LOIN, IFC formats and delivery milestones.
3. **Set-up** — We configure templates, libraries and the common data environment, and train the people involved.
4. **Control** — During the project we check models at each delivery and update the rules when the project changes.

## FAQ

**What does a BIM Manager do?**

They define and control the information process: standards, roles, workflows, formats and model checks. UNI 11337 lists the role alongside the BIM Coordinator and BIM Specialist. At BIMON the BIM Manager works at organization or project level, depending on what the client needs.

**Is BIM mandatory in Italian public procurement?**

Italy's Public Contracts Code (Legislative Decree 36/2023) requires digital information management methods and tools for new works above €2 million from 2025. Contracting authorities therefore need proper information requirements and internal processes. Always check the current text and the requirements of each tender.

**How long does a BIM implementation take?**

It depends on team size, the software in use and the starting point. It usually runs in phases: assessment, standards and templates, training, pilot project, roll-out. Working on a real project from the start shortens the learning curve considerably.
