About

The project for the new headquarters of the Rectorate is located within the broader urban redevelopment program of the “Ostiense-Marconi-Garbatella” area, which has been the goal of the realization and adaptation of spaces for the University of “Roma Tre”. BIMON was entrusted with the detailed and full detailed MEP system design along with multidisciplinary project coordination using BIM technology.

01

Project Background

The new Rectorate of Roma Tre University is a structure under the banner of sustainability, innovation and integration with the surrounding urban fabric.

History

Roma Tre University’s new rectory is conceived as a contemporary, climate-sensitive university campus. Designed by Mario Cucinella Architects, the 12,000-square-meter master plan revolves around three elliptical buildings distinguished by glazed facades, surrounded by a green and white steel structure and a canopy sheltering the square below.

The project, the result of a project financing operation, is located along the ancient Via Ostiense — the ancient road that connected Rome to the port of Ostia — and reflects a new image for Roma Tre, incorporating elements of the historic architecture and engineering of this former industrial district, located southwest of the city.

Executive Design

BIMON was responsible for the development of the executive design of the electrical, special, and mechanical systems.

Modelling

During the design, software was used to develop a BIM model based on criteria important to the development of the infrastructure design. This resulted in accurate 3D models enhanced by BIM datasets; 2D drawings derived from BIM; and renderings of the 3D and 2D models.

Interference Management

Integration of all models into one aggregate model for interference management.

Document Extrapolation

From the BIM model, all the technical drawings of the final design and, subsequently, the executive design necessary for the construction of the work were extrapolated.
