MIND Milano Innovation District

For Lendlease, BIMON handles Masterplan Data Management and BIM Management for the entire MIND site, the one-million-square-metre innovation district on the former EXPO 2015 grounds. We built custom Business Intelligence to validate all project data.

01 · The project

MIND Milano Innovation District is the new biotech district of global ambition rising on the vast former EXPO 2015 site. It aims to become one of the world's major innovation hubs and a regional and national centre of excellence in research, development and industrial production in biotech and agri-food.

The district covers one million square metres, about 120 football pitches, in a part of Milan served by the metro and the railway network, a gateway to the city and its natural expansion. The transformation that began in 2017 will produce an urban innovation district unique in Europe for size and model, built on sustainability, well-being shaped by space, and the integration of functions with each other and with nature.

Alongside public-interest institutions such as Human Technopole, IRCCS Galeazzi, Fondazione Triulza and the Science Campus of the University of Milan, the district will bring together research, education, production, services, retail and housing, with shared spaces and large parks.

02 · Scope

For Lendlease, BIMON runs Masterplan Data Management and BIM Management for the whole site. On a masterplan of this size, data comes from many projects and many parties: our job is to make it consistent, verifiable and readable for every stakeholder.

We built custom Business Intelligence for the client that validates all project data. Data sets are extracted, organised and populated automatically, and interactive dashboards let the client monitor data and make strategic decisions based on its needs.
