Richer models. Less manual work.

We create custom tools (scripts and plugins) that automate the information enrichment of BIM models. Parameters are populated, extracted and transformed to the client's standards, through a controlled process.

A BIM model is only as useful as the information it carries. On projects with thousands of objects, filling in parameters, codes and classifications by hand takes weeks and introduces errors. Informative Automation is how BIMON writes custom tools that enrich the model automatically and repeatably.

We start from the project's Exchange Information Requirements and BIM Execution Plan. We turn the requirements into rules: which parameters are needed, on which categories, with which allowed values. Then we develop Dynamo scripts or Revit API plugins that populate the data, extract it to spreadsheets and databases, and transform it into the required formats, including IFC for openBIM exchange.

The tools are built when the BIM software has no ready-made function for the specific problem. They stay with the client, documented, and can be reused on the next contracts. On King Faisal Air Academy in Riyadh the same approach supported the verification of more than 100 buildings. On Maximall Pompeii and Chorus Life it sped up operations on large amounts of data and objects.

You need it when the information requirements ask for a level of information need (LOIN) the team cannot guarantee by hand, when several suppliers deliver models with different coding, or when model data has to feed quantity take-offs, dashboards and Facility Management systems.

How we work

  1. 1

    Requirements analysis

We read the information requirements, BIM Execution Plan and company standards. We identify the repetitive tasks that consume the most hours.

  2. 2

    Rule definition

We turn the requirements into checkable rules: parameters, categories, allowed values, coding and export formats.

  3. 3

    Development and testing

We write the scripts and plugins and test them on real project models, comparing the output with a manual sample check.

  4. 4

    Release and training

We hand over the tools with user documentation and train the team. Updates follow changes in the client's standards.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Informative Automation and Modeling Automation?+

Informative Automation works on model data: parameters, codes, classifications and exports. Modeling Automation works on geometry and production: model checking and cleaning, views and sheets. The two services are often used together on the same project.

Which software do the tools work with?+

We mainly develop Dynamo scripts and Revit API plugins, since Revit is the most common authoring environment on the projects we work on. Data can be exported to Excel, databases or IFC, so it stays readable outside the authoring software.

Does the client keep the tools?+

Yes. The tools are delivered with documentation and can be reused on other projects that follow the same standards. The terms of use are set out in each engagement contract.
