Support in tender and detailed design
Introducing BIM from the bid stage made it possible to optimize the proposed improvements and verify the real savings in cost and construction time.

Infrastructures · Naples · 2016
BIMON supported Pizzarotti from the first procurement stages of the Napoli-Bari high-speed line, building the digital model of the entire route with all bridges, viaducts, underpasses and tunnels. BIMON then studied design improvements and developed the full detailed design of the tunnels.
01 · The project
The Napoli-Bari high-speed, high-capacity line includes two sections of 16 km each: Napoli-Cancello and Cancello-Frasso Telesino. The project is an important part of the European TEN-T programme for sustainable transport, which aims to move 50% of road freight to rail by 2050, triple the high-speed rail network, connect the main seaports to the railways and cut transport emissions by 60%.
The line will allow trains to run at 130 km/h through many inland areas, connecting communities and economies at risk of depopulation. Travel times will drop between Puglia and Campania, Lazio and the rest of central and northern Italy.
The expected benefits for the areas crossed by the line are significant: population growth of around 90,000 people, GDP growth of 1.6% and a 3.6% increase in residents' income.
02 · Scope
BIMON refined Pizzarotti's technical bid and introduced BIM as the methodology for designing and building the works. Adopting BIM design and BIM management from the tender stage made it possible to optimize the proposed improvements and to verify the real savings in cost and construction time.
BIMON built the digital model of the whole line, including all bridges, viaducts, underpasses and tunnels. The model was used for 4D and 5D simulations of the construction phases, for quantity extraction for the bill of quantities, for technical drawings and photorealistic images, and to study the critical issues of the final design. BIMON then developed the full detailed design of the tunnels.
